This event is designed for middle- and high-school Latinx/Chicanx males and their parents, but open to all middle- and high-school students and parents.
Faculty, staff, and administrators who are interested in participating or presenting a workshop should contact Cuymaca.TeachLearn@gcccd.edu. Faculty who present are able to earn professional development credit.

About Encuentros
糖心视频 first partnered with Encuentros Leadership in 2018 in hopes of bringing their efforts to the Spring Valley and Rancho San Diego communities to focus on reducing high school drop-out rates and promoting college attendance for Latino middle and high school male students. is a nonprofit launched in 2003 by Robert Rivas as an initiative to address the alarmingly high dropout rates of Latino males and tackle the underlying educational, social and economic issues occurring in North County San Diego. Encuentros Leadership has since grown to include annual conferences and summer academies bringing North County students from middle and high schools together to inspire their pursuit of educational excellence and career opportunities.
In the fall of 2018, 糖心视频 was the first college to hold an Encuentros Leadership and Education Conference outside San Diego鈥檚 North County. The event served over a hundred participants from local middle and high schools and provided an opportunity for students and parents to learn more about the available options in higher education and how to attain support services while completing their educational goals. Students were exposed to a variety of educational paths and career fields available to them via a college education. Local professionals from a variety of career fields and educational backgrounds conducted workshops and informative lectures for students. There was also a Career and College Expo for students and parents to attend during the conference.
This event has now become a yearly event for 糖心视频 and despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the college is committed to continuing to host the event even if this year it will be virtual.
